Why Custodire created TakeItDown.help

Some protection should never depend on the ability to pay.

TakeItDown.help is a free worldwide service for adults facing non-consensual intimate imagery, sexual deepfakes, sextortion, impersonation, and related online abuse.

Removal can stop the harm — but it can also erase the evidence.

TakeItDown.help preserves the victim-accessible source and context first, supports the applicable removal process, and creates one independently verifiable evidence record for legal scrutiny.

The adult remains in control and decides whether that record is shared with lawyers, police, prosecutors, authorities, or courts.

Remove the abuse. Preserve the evidence.

Why Custodire is involved

Custodire developed the underlying technology and donated a royalty-free licence to TakeItDown.help Foundation for operating the service. The same principles used in Custodire’s forensic work — source integrity, secure evidence handling, neutrality, and independent verification — are made available here as public-interest infrastructure.

The Foundation

TakeItDown.help Foundation is a Delaware nonprofit corporation and operates TakeItDown.help as an independent public-interest service. An application for recognition under section 501(c)(3) is in preparation. Philanthropic support helps keep the service free and expand its reach worldwide.

Independent by design

TakeItDown.help is not a government agency, law firm, law-enforcement service, or public authority. If anyone depicted was under 18 when the image was taken, or age is uncertain, the adult workflow stops and directs the user to specialist child-safety channels, including NCMEC’s separate Take It Down service where applicable.
